10 Questions

What is worship like at Arbor Pointe Church?
We worship on Sundays mornings at 10:30 at West Jackson Middle School. We think worship should be dynamic and relevant. Deep inside our hearts, we all long to connect with God. Therefore, we feel that worship should help us experience God in our everyday lives. Our praise band leads us in a blend of traditional hymns and modern praise songs. At Arbor Pointe Church, we use video to enhance our worship experience, which focuses on being real, open, and honest, all the while honoring and glorifying God. We believe the Bible has relevant messages for our daily lives. Our messages address everyday issues because we think God cares about the struggles we have with work, family, friends, money, health, and all the rest of life. We believe that God meant for us to have a relationship with Jesus that will change our lives for all eternity.

Why was Arbor Pointe Church started?

We wanted to find a way to reach those individuals and families who were not connected to a local church. The Bible tells us that God loves the Church and uses the Church as a vehicle to bring about salvation, hope, and peace. Arbor Pointe Church is being built from the ground up as a congregation designed to be welcoming to those people who have had little experience with church in their adult lives.

Why do you worship in a school?

When Arbor Pointe Church started, we began meeting at West Jackson Middle School, fortifying a solid relationship with the school and with the community. We recently purchased property less than a mile from the middle school, and we host a variety of events on this site. In the near future we will build a worship facility on this property.

What should I wear?

At Arbor Pointe Church, we invite you to come as you are. Some people wear their Sunday best, while others come in casual clothes. We believe that God is not concerned with what we wear, but about the state of our heart.

What about our Children?

We have a professional nursery, where children will receive wonderful, loving supervision, attention, and care. Look for signs leading to the nursery, or ask a member of our Welcome Team. We have age specific ministry for our children. Splash is for those who are three, four, and five-year-olds. They meet in the Splash room (follow the signs or ask one of our Greeters). The older ones (K through 4th grade) start in worship, and then "break out" after the first set of songs. After worship, they will remain in the Children's Ministry Area until picked up by their parents.

What about our Youth?
We have two groups for our students. We have two groups for YouthXtreme, one for those who are in 5th through 7th grade, and one for those who are in 8th grade through 12th grade. They start off in worship with us, and then "break out" after the first set of songs. We also have YouthXtreme, which is a Sunday evening gathering of our teens.

At Arbor Pointe Church, we replace traditional adult Sunday school classes with in-home LifeTeams. LifeTeams are designed to help adults connect relationally and grow spiritually. Groups meet weekly at different times and on different days and typically include 10-14 people.

How can I make a difference?

In our short history, Arbor Pointe Church has sought to make a tangible and eternal impact in our community and our world. In fact, a frequently examined question is, "If tomorrow Arbor Pointe Church ceased to exist, would anyone notice?" Through our Reaching Hearts ministry, we provide direct assistance to families in our community. Our SWATeam projects (SWAT stands for Servants With A Task) take us into the community where we do home repair and light construction for needy families. We have also taken part in foreign mission trips, where we serve our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world. At Arbor Pointe Church, we want to enable, empower, and equip you to live out your "God Design!"

Why is Church important?

Church isn't supposed to be some dry, lifeless, boring worship service. Church is a gathering of God's people. Wherever we meet, we're the church (or part of it). At Arbor Pointe Church, we've found that we're stronger together than when we're apart. We also learn more from each other than we can on our own. We can do more for God when we work together than when we work alone. Our experience of God's presence in worship is greater and far more profound when we're together than when we're watching some TV preacher at home by ourselves. Let's face it, in the world we live in it's easier to be bad than it is to be good. We need the support, strength, and power to be all that God's calling us to be and the church is the gathering of God's people where that happens! We invite you to check out Arbor Pointe Church - we just might change your mind about what it means to be "a gathering of God's people!
